After all: life happens; and life can be hard.
Patrick always saw the best in people, which is what we do in his honor when we offer our scholarships to those who simply need a second chance.
There are those stranded between finishing strong and collapsing in defeat who are at a tipping point.
They need some saving grace.
They need a Fresh Start.
Success beyond adversity.
That will be the legacy of becoming a
Patrick Brett Scholar.
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ST. PETERSBURG COLLEGE
The Patrick Brett Foundation partners with the St. Petersburg College Foundation. We entered into a contract with the St. Petersburg College Foundation setting out the requirements that are needed to become a Fresh Start Scholarship Recipient. All applications for the scholarship are made directly through the college.
The St. Petersburg College screens the applicants and provides our foundation with the applicants that meet our criteria. The Patrick Brett Foundation Scholarship Committee then reviews the applications and establishes a list of recommended recipients.
The list of recommended recipients is shared with the St. Petersburg College Foundation and from this list they make the final determination as to who will become a Fresh Start Scholarship Recipient. The St. Petersburg College Foundation manages and distributes the funds that we provide to them.

"I felt most of my life I didn’t have have anyone who was proud of me or I didn’t have people who motivated me to be a better person. A lot of times I didn’t think people believed in me, and now, I realize I have 75 people who believe in me.
They are all wonderful people and they are helping people; they are helping me. That makes me not want to fail. It make me want to work harder and not just go through school and go through the motions but actually touch peoples lives and be better.”
